About
Forest recreation area at 1,240 m in the Montes de Garachico, named for dark volcanic ash from historic eruptions. Picnic tables, fogones, permanently open accessible toilets, children’s play space and parking, reached by dirt forest track, with an adjoining campsite.
Fire & BBQ Safety
Fixed cooking facilities (fogones) may be available at this recreation area, but their use can be restricted or completely prohibited during periods of elevated wildfire risk. Check current Cabildo de Tenerife / Tenerife ON restrictions before lighting any fire. Fires are only for food preparation in designated fogones or using gas cylinders — portable barbecues are not promoted.

Daylight hours only (sunrise to sunset) — Cabildo / municipal recreational area rules apply.
Free access for individual visitors; organised groups usually need Tenerife ON authorisation for Cabildo sites.

Access:
TF-373 (via San José de los Llanos), turn at km 9.2 onto Pista Arenas Negras–General de Garachico. Dirt-track access; no public bus to the site.
Camping:
Adjoining Cabildo campsite for tents and mobile homes — authorisation via Tenerife ON.
Water on site (where provided) is generally NOT fit for drinking.
Bring your own charcoal/wood for fogones when cooking is permitted.
